Bobby Horseshoe.

Bobby Horseshoe is an ongoing project. A social, inclusive, levelling musical adventure. A collective of sorts, but not a shitty one. The idea is for musical types and non musical types to be able to record with each other without the less musical feeling out of place.

The first idea to muck about with some recording equipment happened in the summer of 2003. A fortunate alignment of events, serendipity, and a complete lack of awareness as to how  music should be properly recorded, led to the formulation of a very simple song/music creating concept;

All songs shall be created spontaneously.

All songs shall be recorded one track at a time.

All takes should be first takes, no going back, no 2nd chances.

Each take shall be recorded using an instrument/ noise making device picked at random from ‘the bag’.

Anything can be put in ‘the bag’ (as long as it can be used to make a noise).

Order of recording shall be decided by ‘the bag’.

Effects are OK, if you decide.

Whoever mixes can do what ever they want.

It should be fun.

This system has been honed over the last 15 years or so, but the essence has remained constant.  Over the last 5 or 6 years we have started to venture into creating images to go alongside the music, the rules for this are less set out at the moment, but keeping a freedom and a lack of knowledge of how these things should be ‘done properly’ seem to be key.

The wheels move slowly and activity comes and goes in bursts, but this site has been created so that Bobby has some digital presence.
